A Harms Rod is Custom Crafted to order to meet and hopefully exceed all your expectations. All rods are built to my own convex taper designs, generally characterized as "progressive" in action. Rods are lightly flamed to a rich golden color. The following hand-crafted rod components and features are found in every Harms Custom Rod:

  • Swelled rod butt section
  • Inscription of owner's name on rod (deleted if preferred)
  • Your choice of black, bronzed or bright guides, tip-top and fly-keeper
  • Nickel silver reel seat butt-cap, sliding band and cork-check (blued or bright)
  • Nickel silver, "Super-Z" style ferrules (blued or bright)
  • Agate or conventional carbaloy stripping guide (blued or bright)
  • Cork grip turned in a "cigar" or reverse "half-Wells" shape
  • Choice of select burls for mortised reel-seat insert
  • Choice of silk thread colors for wraps and tipping
  • Aluminum rod case with brass cap and cotton, "chamois" bag
  • The entire rod is hand varnished and meticulously hand-rubbed for a perfect finish

  Disclaimer
Please note in making your selection that, as each person's sense of timing, rhythm and line-speed is necessarily idiosyncratic, the exact line-weight appropriate to your rod cannot be guaranteed. It is possible, for instance, that changing either up or down to a double-tapered line may suit your own style of casting better. All rods are designed for weight-forward lines in accordance with my own casting style (medium line speed, medium-tight loop).
